“While I was attending Stanford, 550 was the address of my home, a small apartment where late nights studying investors like Buffett and Mark Leonard sparked a vision: to build the Berkshire of SMBs—a diversified group of durable, main-street companies of America.
That home became a metaphor. After building three companies and exiting my last company, I realized I didn’t want to build and sell again. I wanted to create something bigger than myself. I wanted to invest in other founders' companies to hold for the long term. I wanted to make a permanent home for the enduring small businesses that define America and entrepreneurship.
550 Holdings became both a personal origin and a promise: to hold and grow exceptional businesses in my home while preserving the legacy, culture, and people that make these businesses special.”
